integratedAIR were approached by an
international company specialising in composite products for the Aerospace and
Aviation Industry; recent expansion at their site in Berkshire, UK required
comprehensive dust and fume extraction solutions for new CNC machinery at their
facility.
Our Engineers quoted for a comprehensive fume
and dust extraction system integrated with an Antares CNC machine to extract
carbon-based particles from the composite product and surrounding work surfaces.
As well as minimising contamination of highly precise parts utilised in the
Aerospace industry, this dust control system ensures a clean working
environment for employees in surrounding workstations.
The dust and fume produced is largely carbon-based and
requires extraction to ensure operators are not exposed to irritating or
potentially harmful carbon dust or fumes. Our bespoke extraction hoods
integrated directly with the Antares CNC machine, minimising the facilities
exposure to the contaminants and ensuring the machine can be easily cleaned
down.
The bespoke ductwork is designed with the clients
requirements in mind, conveying the fume and dust via air through a run of
high-quality ductwork at roof-height and allowing access to all sides of the
CNC machine.
The system is integrated with a BlueClean® HC PRO filter unit
which utilises downflow cleaning technology to maximise efficiency; in addition
to this, an ATEX-rated non-return valve and explosion relief panel ensure the
safe treatment of potentially explosive dusts with external venting away from
the facility.
George Pottle, Project Manager, said:
“This project was a pleasure to work on – our client was
pleased with the outcome of the dust control system, and the modern facility
allowed for an easy install with minimal disruptions to their manufacturing
process.
CNC machines can produce a range of fumes and dusts,
especially with multiple types of complex composite materials being processed;
bespoke solutions such as this dust control system ensure a wide variety of
fumes and dusts can be contained, safely conveyed, and filtered.
This not only
promotes a clean and safe working environment, but also ensures our client can
continue manufacturing a variety of products to meet the diverse requirements
of the Aerospace and Aviation industries in the UK.”
integratedAIR work with a variety of clients to design dust
control systems for specific machinery, unique facilities, and bespoke dust or
fume requirements.
