Blog / Trim Extraction System for Corrugated Board

The new die-cut machine presented a significant challenge:
the old system could not accommodate the additional air volume and trim without
costly modifications. integratedAIR’s engineers developed a customised air
separator system equipped with a rotary valve to extract the trim efficiently.
The extraction hood was specially designed to match the client’s machinery
dimensions, ensuring maximum efficiency. In-house fabrication allowed for quick
production, with high-quality steel used to guarantee durability.
The newly installed system moves trim from the machine to the scrap system at high velocity. An 11kW chopper fan processes the trim for smooth transport through heavy-duty ductwork designed to minimise blockages. Large radius bends were incorporated to ensure continuous operation, reducing the chance of disruption. Beyond the die-cut machine, three additional extraction points were added across the facility to manage trim and dust from other machinery, improving overall cleanliness and safety. The system features warning sensors to detect potential blockages, which helps maintain smooth operations without manual monitoring.
