Project Overview
Aluminium cans provide many benefits to both the manufacturer and the customer; our industry-leading clients are constantly developing new product designs and production methods to ensure beverage cans are produced efficiently and with maximum recoverability.
Aluminium is also light-weight and can be transported via a range of methods at minimal cost; once with the consumer, beverage cans are one of the most common materials to be collected and processed for recycling, and the raw material can be used again for a range of aluminium products.
Scrap System
Scrap aluminium is collected from various points across the facility and conveyed through high quality ducting suspended from the ceiling to the scrap collection system.
Lattice scrap from the cupper at the start of the production line is collected from the cupper hood, this scrap is what remains after the die set has punched the cups out.
At various points throughout the facility, we have installed sweep-up points; these allow workers to sweep up aluminium scrap or spoiled cans into the station where they are pneumatically conveyed, at the press of a button, into the scrap system.
The system has been designed to allow conveyance from multiple sweep-up points across the facility. This helps maintain a clean and safe working environment, whilst reducing the time workers spend on manual cleaning to maximise productivity.
Future Capacity
The addition of production line three was planned in advance by our client, and the system was suitably adjusted by integratedAIR Systems to meet the anticipated future demand for aluminium cans in Central Europe. This facility was designed with the potential to house up to four production lines, significantly increasing the future capacity required from the scrap and HVAC system.
integratedAIR Systems have worked closely with this client to ensure all future expansion is accounted for in the current system design, and the facility is prepared to house any new system requirements as the range of products our client manufactures increases and new production methods are developed.
HVAC System
This system required a significant quantity of air; the facility is over 120,000 m2 with both office and production space.
There is currently potential for three production lines running at once, each producing varying levels of heat with various process exhausts removing air from the facility. Our solution comprised of spot cooling, ventilation, and make-up air systems to provide a cost effective and efficient system.
Spot Cooling
Targeted cooling at specific points along a production line can often be more effective and cost-efficient than cooling an entire facility. Operators stationed along the production line can often face extended periods of exposure to process heat or exhaust, requiring targeted cooling and ventilation to maintain a comfortable work environment and productive workforce.
This bespoke spot cooling system from integratedAIR uses tapered ducting to ensure cool air is equally distributed to multiple stations along the production line, with diffusers at each vent to ensure a steady stream of cool air.
Make-up Air and Ventilation
Various machines throughout this facility will remove air through process exhausts and produce heat, which both contribute to a lowering air quality inside the facility; make-up air and ventilation are essential systems to keep workplaces safe and workers productive.
We installed large distribution vents along the perimeter of this facility, which direct fresh air into the ground-floor production area, as well as cylindrical distribution vents to target the second-storey production areas and equally distribute air across multiple levels of the facility.
